GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — New charges were filed Monday against a man believed to have stolen a sofa from a high-end store in Grand Rapids.
Michael McClerin now faces charges of receiving and concealing stolen property of $20,000.
Police say McClerin stole a $6,700 couch from Gorman’s furniture store on 28th Street and then came back days later to take the cushions he had left behind.
During their investigation into McClerin, police found a storage unit filled with other stolen items.
An arraignment date for the new charge has not yet been set.
Also Monday, McClerin waived his preliminary hearing in Grand Rapids’ 61st District Court on an initial charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
