Man runs across road, hit by vehicle

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 61-year-old Vestaburg man is in critical condition after running into the road and getting hit by a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

Around 3:20 p.m., emergency crews were called out to Howard City Edmore Road near Bollinger Road in Richland Township.

Authorities say a 62-year-old Mason man driving a Chevy pickup truck hit the Vestaburg man. The man was picking up cans along the edge of the road, then suddently ran across the road. The victim did not check for traffic before crossing the road.

The victim was flown to a Saginaw hospital and is currently in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup and his 57-year old passenger was not hurt in the accident.
