COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WOOD)– The West Michigan Whitecaps’ home opener is less than one week away.
Thursday marks three months since flames tore through Fifth Third Ballpark. The fire burned the suites along the first baseline.
Officials with the Whitecaps have replaced the seating in that area. Construction crews are also working on expanding the souvenir shop, and making improvements to some of the concession stands.
Officials hope to have the work completed by the end of the week.
It’s been a long road, but officials say they’ll be ready for the Whitecaps’ home opener on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. It will be the first time fans will see the ballpark since the fire.
24 Hour News 8 will be broadcasting all newscasts from inside the ballpark, starting on Daybreak Tuesday.
