Judge holds release of Tri County documents

STANTON, Mich. (WOOD) — Two former teachers are going to court to keep Target 8 from learning about an investigation that led to their resignations.

Jeffrey Ells and Maureen Baker were teachers at Tri County High school in Montcalm County. They were suspended in the autumn of 2013 after being accused of inappropriate use of district technology.

At the time, the district said it did not appear any students were involved.

The teachers resigned in January before the district investigation was complete.

Thursday, a judge granted their attorneys’ request to block the release of those investigation documents to Target 8.

The teachers say the investigation is private and should not be made public. They want the district to destroy all of the documents.

A judge has set a hearing for later this month.
