CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash on M-44/Belding Road Friday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., emergency crews were called out to the intersection of Belding Road and Kitson Drive, in front of the Bostwick Lake Inn. According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department a 2003 Honda Accord was heading eastbound on Belding Road, when the car either slowed or stopped. A 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was behind the Accord, also heading eastbound. The truck hit the Accord, and pushed it into oncoming traffic. The Accord was then hit by a Toyota Camry, which was heading west.
The driver of the Accord, Robert Yourshaw, was taken to Spectrum Butterworth hospital with what was described as potentially life threatening injuries. He was in critical condition Saturday morning. A witness on scene told 24 Hour News 8 he appeared to have a head injury.
His passenger, Sheryl Yourshaw, was also taken to the hospital with non life threatning injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, Tara Tappin, was uninjured in the crash. She was walking around and talking at the scene.
The driver of the third vehicle was also not injured. Alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor, and the accident is under investigation.
