HARTFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 29-year-old Hartford woman fled from police and tried to hide from them in a barrel behind a pole barn Saturday afternoon.

Around 2:15 p.m., a Van Buren Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol saw a 1995 White Cadillac speed away from a gas station. The deputy followed and tried to pull the vehicle over.

The driver did not stop for the deputy and continued driving at a high rate of speed for several miles. Authorities say the driver went through stop signs and drove recklessly at a high rate of speed before going off road into an orchard and cornfield.

The driver ran from the car on foot and attempted to hide in a 55 gallon barrel behind a pole barn in Bangor Township at 34th Ave & 66th Street.

Authorities brought a canine unit to the scene to help find the driver. Authoriteis found the driver and took her into custody.

The driver, 29-year-old Tiffani Ann Johnson-Oliver, was held on bench warrants and Fleeing & Eluding authorities.
