13 year old shot after leaving party

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A 13-year-old Kalamazoo boy was shot in the back Saturday night.

The boy was shot while walking in the area of Lake Street and Maywood Avenue around 11:40 p.m., according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safet.

The boy told officers he had just left a party in the 600 block of Carr Street when he heard a gunshot and realized he had been shot.

Authorities say while waiting for an ambulance, the victim ended up being transported to a hospital by an acquaintance.  Officials say he susatined non-life-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition Sunday.

No arrests have been made at this time.
