ROOSEVELT PARK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon County woman was arrested Sunday after police say she stabbed her live-in boyfriend in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Devon Dyal, 36, was arrested after the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Summit Avenue in Roosevelt Park.
Muskegon County prosecutors issued one charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm against Dyal Monday.
The investigation showed that Dyal stabbed the victim in the chest with a “long kitchen knife” during an altercation at their home. The victim and suspect have a child in common. Reports show that the victim called 911, Muskegon County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Tim Maat told 24 Hour News 8.
The victim is expected to survive his injuries.
Maat said the incident is still under investigation and that prosecutors could amend the charges, depending on reports from doctors about the severity of the victim’s injuries.
“We just want to get more information from the doctors… we’ll continue to evaluate it as the evidence becomes available,” Maat said. “We’re going to keep all of our options open.”
