Man carrying gun knocks at BC homes

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — One man has been taken into custody after carrying a stolen, concealed handgun while knocking on people’s doors in the Battle Creek area.

Residents in the 100 block of Springview Drive called 911 to report the suspect, who was also wearing a mask.

Battle Creek police officers then set up in the area to look for the suspect.

One of the officers noticed a man walking in the street and performed a field interview on him. After gaining permission to perform a pat down for weapons, the officer found a loaded handgun in the suspect’s waistband.

Further investigation revealed the recovered handgun had been reported as stolen.

The suspect was taken into custody on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and being in possession of a stolen firearm.
