ADA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Kent County authorities say a home was burgled after its residents left the door unlocked.

It happened Wednesday in the 800 block of Bridge Walk Court SE, south of Ada Drive, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple who lives at the home left their door unlocked while they went for a walk. They were away for about 45 minutes, authorities say.

In that time, a thief entered the home, went through dressers and other items, and eventually stole money, according to the sheriff’s department.

Authorities remind residents to lock their doors when they leave.
