NBA D-League team coming to GR

WALKER, Mich. (WOOD) — An NBA Development League team is coming to the Grand Rapids area.

The NBA has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon at the Deltaplex Arena in Walker to discuss the relocation of a team to Grand Rapdis for the upcoming 2014-2015 season, according to a release.

Dan Reed, the president of the D-League, and Detroit Pistons Dennis Mannion will provide more information about the team coming to the Grand Rapids area.

The team will be affiliated with the Pistons, a release said. The nature of that relationship is expected to be described at the Tuesday press conference.

There will be a contest to name the team, the release said.

Rick Mahorn, a former Piston and radio analyst, is expected to be on hand for the press conference.
