SPARTA, Mich. (WOOD) – Police have identified the victim in a two-vehicle, fatal wreck that happened over the weekend in Kent County.

Chelsea Traxler, 21, was killed in the Sunday afternoon crash at M-37 and 13 Mile Road in Sparta, according to Michigan State Police.

Traxler was headed west in her car on 13 Mile when she started to turn south onto M-37 and collided with an SUV that was northbound on M-37, police on the scene said. The force of the crash spun the SUV around.

Traxler was pronounced dead on the scene.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, authorities said, and alcohol is not considered a factor.

Michigan State Police troopers were assisted on the scene by Kent County sheriff’s deputies. One lane of M-37 was shut down in the area for a time.
