MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD)– A Muskegon man who was arrested after a woman awoke to find him standing over her bed has been sentenced.

Edward Causey, Jr., 33, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail with credit for 17 days served.

Earlier this year, a jury found Causey guilty of one count of illegal entry. They found him not guilty of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

He was arrested in October 2013 after a woman said she awoke to find him standing over her bed and touching her. She said he told her, “Hey, sweetie, I’m home.” When the woman’s boyfriend returned home to find the stranger, the pair said, he first offered to sell them marijuana and then left when the woman started calling 911.

Causey was arrested near their home a short time later.

Muskegon police said at the time Causey is considered a person of interest in other recent incidents in the same area, including two or three reports of women waking up to find a strange man in their homes and reports of window peeping.
