GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — A fundraiser will be held Friday night to help raise money for a fund honoring a Grandville senior who died last month.
Ryan Fischer, 17, died in his sleep on March 7 of complications due to an enlarged heart.
Fischer was a captain of Grandville’s hockey and football teams, and a 4.0 student in the National Honor Society. He had also been accepted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
A fundraiser is happening Friday night at the Celebration Cinema located inside Rivertown Mall in Grandville. A portion of the money raised from tickets to watch the 7 p.m. showing of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will go towards the Ryan Fischer Legacy Scholarship Fund.
Tickets cost $20, which includes the movie ticket, drink, popcorn and donation.
Eight dollars of every ticket sold will be given to Fischer’s Legacy Scholarship Fund. The goal is to raise $100,000 within the next six months for the scholarship fund. The money raised will be given to a student that exemplifies all that Ryan embodied.
