OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was taken to the hospital after a small plane had a hard landing and smashed into the ground at a private airstrip Saturday.
The crash happened in the 10000 block of West Main Street in Oshtemo Township around 1 p.m..
The Oshtemo Township Fire Chief told 24 Hour News 8 on scene it appears the plane landed too hard.
There were two people in the plane during the hard landing.
The pilot told police he didn’t think there were any problems, but when the plane landed, it hit the ground hard. This caused the landing gear to snap off.
A neighbor said he heard the plane fly over and it sounded like it was in trouble.
The person taken to the hospital suffered minor injuries. The FAA and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s are investigating the incident.
