Sports OT: Grand Rapids’ NBA D-League team

A press conference to announce Grand Rapids' new NBA Development League team.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Tuesday, NBA officials announced that Grand Rapids would be getting a Development League team this autumn.

The team, which hadn’t yet been named, will serve as an exclusive minor league affiliate to the Detroit Pistons.

D-League Commissioner confirmed that Michigan investment group SSJ purchased the franchise out of Springfield, Mass. and will move it to Grand Rapids.
