There’s healing for today and hope for tomorrow on Division Ave. in Grand Rapids.

This week’s Connecting with Community Award Finalist addresses the need of health care to those individuals without insurance.

Health Intervention Services is a faith based health center in downtown Grand Rapids formed by a partnership of volunteering community physicians.

Located on south Division, Health Intervention Services provides free health care where more 65% are Spanish speaking.

Many patients are working multiple part time jobs however are not provided health insurance.

Volunteers include doctors, nurses, dentists, hygienists and even nursing students.

Some volunteers can volunteer as little as four hours month, but through all their combined efforts they are able to help the West Michigan community.
