SIDNEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 46-year-old Edmore man has been arraigned after allegedly threatening a Stanton couple during a road rage incident.
Lawrence Talbot Allen was arraigned Monday on one count of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, according to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.
The charge stems from an alleged road rage incident that took place on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. in Sidney Township, west of Stanton.
Sheriff’s deputies said a Stanton couple called 911, after they said another car tailgated them as they headed east on Stanton Road.
The couple pulled over to let the car to pass, but the driver, who police later said was Allen, also pulled over on the side of the road, according to the sheriff’s office.
That’s when Allen allegedly got out of his car with a tire iron, sheriff’s officials said.
The couple drove away, continuing east towards Stanton, but Allen got back in his car and followed them, according to the sheriff’s office.
Allen then passed the couple, and pulled off on the shoulder of the road. When the couple passed him, he was allegedly pointing a long gun at them.
Sheriff’s deputies found Allen in Stanton and arrested him. Officials said he had a pellet gun, and was illegally transporting marijuana.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Allen could face additional charges. He’s currently in the Montcalm County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
