GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — For more than three decades Rockford native Greg Meyer held the title as the last American man to win the Boston Marathon.

Meyer won the race in 1983 and up until this year an American man hasn’t been able to repeat his win.

But on Monday that all changed when he lost his title to Meb Keflezighi of San Diego, California, who won the 118th Boston Marathon.

Meyer was in Boston for the race and joined 24 Hour News 8 in studio to talk about the solidarity and security he saw firsthand at this year’s race.
