KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A memorial service will be held Thursday for Kalamazoo doctor Teleka Patrick.

Patrick’s body was pulled from a northern Indiana lake on April 6.

During a news conference, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said it appeared that Patrick, 30, accidentally drowned in Lake Charles in Porter, Ind.

Fuller said authorities think Patrick, a first-year psychiatry resident at Borgess Medical Center, left Kalamazoo of her own free will on the night of Dec. 5, 2013. Her car was found later that night off I-94 near Porter, not far from Lake Charles.

Authorities believe Patrick drove for about two hours to Porter, got a flat tire and got out of the car along the highway. She then became lost, Fuller said, and accidentally wandered into the lake.

Foul play is not suspected, although officials are still waiting on toxicology results,

A memorial is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Temple Seventh-Day Adventist Church located on 1615 E. G Avenue in Kalamazoo Township. To watch the service online, click here.

A funeral service will be held on April 25 in Orlando, Florida, and also on April 28 in California.
