Teen shot in leg in GR; no arrest

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A teen was shot in the leg late Thursday afternoon in Grand Rapids.

It happened around 5:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Union Street SE.

Grand Rapids police were first sent to the 1100 block of Union and could not find the victim, but were soon sent to the correct address.

There, they found a 16-year-old who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The injury is not considered life-threatening. The teen was treated in an ambulance at the scene.

The shooter was described as a male in his late teens wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.

A K9 briefly tracked the suspect, but was not able to find him.

As of Thursday night, a suspect had not been arrested.
