Today volunteers from around Grand Rapids took time out of their days to share the love of reading with students in area schools.
Nearly 50 volunteers entered over 50 classrooms, reading to over 1200 students.
The event put on by the Salvation Army’s Action Group committee reached out to young professionals to encourage volunteering.
The volunteers read a book that featured moral messages, and then lead the class in character building activities.
Through these activities the Salvation Army hopes to promote literacy to area youth and share the passion for reading.
