Child porn found on computer at daycare

VERGENNES TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 22-year-old man is behind bars and is accused of making child pornography that was found on a computer in a home of a formerly-licensed West Michigan daycare.

A law enforcement source close to the investigation tells 24 Hour News 8 22-year-old Travis Stiehl is at the Kent County Jail on a felony child pornography charge.

The arrest is the result of a month-long a joint investigation between the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children task force and Homeland Security Investigations.

Stiehl was identified during an ongoing international investigation into the child pornography trade, manufacturing and online distribution of child porn.

The source tells 24 Hour News 8 that child pornography was found on a computer inside a home near Lowell where Stiehl lives.

24 Hour News 8 has learned that a state licensed child care facility was being run in that home, but the license was revoked back in December 2013.

24 Hour News 8 has also learned that two different victims are involved in this case.

Stiehl is being held without bond and is expected to be arraigned on state child pornography charges on Monday. In addition to the local charges, Stiehl will likely face similar federal charges.

Homeland Security Investigators are asking anyone with information about Stiehl to contact the Grand Rapids office at 616-235-3936, extension 2215 or the MSP ICAC at 616-866-6675.
