WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) – A middle and high school in Wyoming were forced to cancel classes Friday after an unknown number of students and staff reported flu-like symptoms.
The Kent County Health Department told 24 Hour News 8 that Godfrey-Lee Public Schools had cancelled school for Lee Middle School and High School due to gastrointestinal illness.
Other schools in the district remained open.
The health department said it gave the district instructions on disinfecting the school and how to avoid spreading illness, and the district said it would be sanitizing classrooms Friday.
Athletic practices for Friday evening have been canceled, and the Fred Solis Memorial Track Invitational at Lee Field on Saturday has been canceled as well, according to the district.
It was unclear if classes would resume on Monday.
