PD: Body found in Kzoo lake is missing man

Takashi Sugimori

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – Authorities have identified a body found in a Kalamazoo lake as that of a man who was recently reported missing.

A medical examiner was able to positively identify the body pulled from Asylum Lake on Friday as that of Takashi Sugimori, 56, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Sugimori’s cause of death was ruled a drowning, KDPS said.

Sugimori was reported missing on April 3 by his wife, who said her husband hadn’t returned home after going on a cross-country skiing trip near the partially frozen lake.

Dive teams were not able to immediately search the lake for Sugimori due to poor weather conditions.
