Man accused of shooting 2 in Kzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say they have arrested the man who shot two people in Kalamazoo Sunday.

The shooting happened around 4:20 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Trimble Avenue. A 24-year-old was shot in the back and a 23-year-old was shot in the foot. Both were expected to survive.

The suspect, a 35-year-old Kalamazoo man, was arrested Tuesday, according to a release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Around 2:45 p.m., KDPS says, officers and detectives went to an apartment in the 2000 block of Inverness Lane where the suspect was seen. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police are requesting charges of assault with intent to murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
