RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a driver is in intensive care after causing a two-car crash near Hastings.
The wreck happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to a release from the Barry County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said a van making a left turn onto M-43 from the Hastings Walmart’s private drive was hit in the driver’s side by a westbound SUV.
A preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the van was at fault, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The driver of the van was taken to a Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital and admitted to the ICU, the sheriff’s office said.
The Hastings Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
