Man sentenced for graduation party shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A teen convicted of opening fire at a Kentwood graduation party is headed to prison.

Billie McKinney, 18, was sentenced Tuesday to between 29 and 52 in prison.

In July 2013, McKinney opened fire in an apparent gang-related shooting at a graduation party in Kentwood. Five people were shot, but no one was killed.

McKinney was convicted in March of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
