Seniors keep minds sharp with competition

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Many older adults and grandparents love to stay active – both with their grandchildren and on their own. One way to do that is a different spin on a competition you’ve probably heard about. Odyssey of the Mind is popular among students and now it’s being embraced by seniors!

Senior Odyssey of Michigan is a program in which seniors work together to solve problems and create scenarios to address the problem. Then they present it at a competition in a skit-type format. The competition encourages seniors to use their lifelong skills and knowledge in creative ways to keep their minds active and engaged.

The 2014 Senior Odyssey teams will compete against each other at the Senior Odyssey Competition on Saturday, May 3. The competition is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ceglarek Fine Arts Center at Allendale High School. Admission is free.
