GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids Public Schools student has received a scholarship that will pay for her entire college career.

Sophie Delacruz is one of 1,000 students nationwide selected for the Gates Millennium Scholarship, according to a Thursday release from GRPS.

The scholarship, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will pay for Delacruz’s college expenses up to $350,000.

The 17-year-old, a senior at Union High School, plans to major in higher education or foreign language at Grand Valley State University.
