Bank robbed in downtown Holland

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) – Police are investigating a robbery at a Fifth Third Bank in downtown Holland.

The robbery happened Friday at 1:25 p.m. at the branch at 9th Street and Central Avenue.

The suspect, a male in his 20s, walked into the lobby, demanded money and implied he had a weapon.

The suspect had a black scruffy beard, was wearing sunglasses, a long-sleeved white hoodie and faded black jeans.

Police said the suspect appeared to be about 5 foot 6 inches tall, and implied he had a gun. After the robbery, he took off on foot.

Police brought in a K-9 unit to search for the suspect, but they were not able to track the suspect down.

Hope College’s main campus, which is not far from the bank, was put on lock down temporarily while police investigated at the scene.
