MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — Funeral services will be held at Muskegon Heights High School for a star basketball player slain during a drive-by shooting.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports that services for Marquis Gresham are scheduled to begin at noon on Friday.

Gresham was 17 when he was shot to death April 23 as he walked to a basketball banquet. The junior was the starting center on the Muskegon Heights Public School Academy team that advanced this past season to the state semifinals.

Shundarius Lawson was arraigned Wednesday in Muskegon District Court on an open murder charge. Bond for the 20-year-old was set at $1 million.

Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson says Lawson was in a sport utility vehicle from which the shots were fired. Authorities haven’t said if he fired the shots.
