Inspired by video games, helping kids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) Computer and video games have grown in popularity over the years, influencing popular culture and even the music we listen to. The band Playing with Power is using video game-inspired music to raise money for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The event, GR8bit LIVE is a concert of retro video game music performed by video game tribute bands. It takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids. One hundred percent of the ticket proceeds will go toward buying video game equipment for kids at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Tickets are $10.
