BIG TRAVERSE BAY, Mich. (WLUC/WOOD) — Several feet of ice washed ashore from Lake Superior in the northern Upper Peninsula this week.
The waves of ice came ashore in Keweenaw County, according to WLUC in the UP, damaging some lakeside houses and other structures.
“It’s just a massive wall of ice. I call it an ice tsunami that just came in and just crept up on the shore,” homeowner Paul Kitti told WLUC. “We have to deal with some property damage in there, but it could be worse. It looks like the worst is over.”
