SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two people were killed and two more were hurt in a single-vehicle crash in Mecosta County early Sunday.

The wreck happened just before 1 a.m. on M-66/30th Avenue near 17 Mile Road in Sheridan Township south of Barryton.

A vehicle passing another car at a “high rate of speed” left the roadway and then rolled several times, the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Two passengers who were not wearing seat belts were ejected, the sheriff’s office said. Both pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Adam Byberg, 23, of Remus and 22-year-old Aaron Clark of Barryton.

Two other people — the 22-year-old driver and a 23-year-old passenger — were taken to Spectrum Health Big Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.

The car that was being passed was not involved in the crash. No one from that vehicle was hurt.

Osceola County EMS and Barryton Fire/Rescue assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.

A separate crash in Mecosta County on Saturday also left two people dead.
