BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A man is behind bars after police say he broke into a home and kidnapped his ex-girlfriend in Battle Creek Saturday evening.

The incident happened at 8 p.m. on Lamora Street in Battle Creek.

According to a news release, a 31-year-old man forced his way into the home when he found out his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend was inside with her friends.

When the two arrived at the location, the victim was able to contact her mother without the suspect knowing and told police officers where she was located.
