Camp Shout Out Connecting with Community Awards Finalist

CWC Awards Camp Shout Out

There’s one camp in West Michigan were kids can just be kids, even if they struggle with stuttering.

Camp Shout Out is the only summer camp like it in the nation created for kids with fluency disorders like stuttering.

For one week every summer kids from around Michigan and around the nation travel come to one campground to become great communicators.

This camp is unique because it brings in speech and language pathologists and studying graduate students to work and learn along side the kids.

Besides for normal camp activities like bonfires, archery canoeing and a ropes course, youth who stutter receive speech therapy.

Speech-language pathologists obtain continuing education and training from working with the students.

Graduate students who come to the camp will have a opportunity to participate in clinical practicum.

This safe, fun and natural environment at Camp Shout Out provides a chance for everyone to learn, teach and empower each other.
