6 people escape house fire

EGELSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Six people, including three kids, were able to escape a house fire in Muskegon County unharmed.

The fire started around 2 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 5300 block of Apple Avenue in Egelston Township.

Authorities told 24 Hour News 8 that a faulty wire leading to the dryer sparked the fire.

Egelston Township Fire Department put the fire out in less than 40 minutes, but the home is considered a total loss.

American Red Cross is helping the family relocate.
