Be a hero by becoming a foster parent

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) There is a need around the country and in Michigan for foster parents. Lutheran Social Services of Michigan is a statewide agency that places children into foster care. They say they need foster parents who are willing to take in older children, sibling groups, or children with medical needs.

A child stays with a foster family for an average of 15 months. The goal is to reunite them back with their parents once the parents get back on their feet.

Lutheran Social Services of Michigan is hosting a family fun run called The Super Run. It’s on Saturday, June 28, at Robinette’s Apple Haus. There will be a 1K run and a 5K run, and fun activities for both children and adults. Lutheran Social Services’ motto is “Be a hero, be a foster parent,” so each participant in The Super Run gets a cape. Tickets to The Super Run are $20 before May 19, $25 between May 19 and June 27, and $30 on the day of the event.
