GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Three years ago, former Grand Valley State University Jason Kinzler died of a heart attack while participating the Fifth Third River Bank Run.

This year, a team led by Kinzler’s son will run the race in his honor to raise money for the Jason Kinzler Family First Foundation, which provides support and guidance for families who have lost one or both parents.

Thursday, Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly, Kinzler’s coach in college, was the keynote speaker at the annual dinner for the foundation. He talked to 24 Hour News 8 about why the foundation’s work is so important.

Kelly also discussed the Thursday NFL Draft.
