SODUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Benton Harbor man was killed in a rollover crash in Sodus Township Friday night.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. Friday on River Road south of Pipestone Road in Sodus Township, near Benton Harbor, according a release.

Investigators believe a northbound 2004 GMC truck ran off the road and rolled over causing the driver to be ejected. The driver, 46-year-old Kevin Gagliardo of Benton Harbor, was non-responsive laying in the road and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The second vehicle, a 1996 Buick, was heading south on River Road when it hit the rolled over truck, which was in the middle of the road. The crash caused minor damage, the release said.

The driver of the Buick was arrested for operation while intoxicated. The driver was treated at the hospital and then was taken to Berrien County Jail, according to the release.

Alcohol appears to be a factor and the accident is still under investigation.
