HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Two wanted people in Van Buren County were arrested Saturday night after finding drugs in a home.
The incident happened at 7:15 p.m. in the 77000 block of 56th Street in Hamilton Township.
According to a news release, officers received information that the two wanted people were inside the home on 56th Street. When deputies arrived at the house, the people inside tried stopping deputies from getting inside.
Deputies smelled marijuana coming from the house, and after negotiations, four people surrendered to police and were detained.
When officers searched the home, they found that the residents tried destroying evidence by flushing drugs down the toilet, but some of the drugs were still in the home.
Deputies then arrested 53-year-old John Crawford of Decatur and 52-year-old Sharon Hagens of Decatur for warrants for their arrests. Crawford was also arrested for drug possession charges related to the incident.
At this time, the two other individuals who surrendered have not been arrested.
The case remains under investigation.
