The director of the Greenville Department of Public Safety says the vandalism happened sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

It appears the vandal or vandals scaled the fence around the tower and climbed an enclosed ladder system. Once they reached the catwalk surrounding the holding tank, they spray-painted crass words on it.

The Greenville DPS director Monday said investigators were following up on some tips regarding the incident, but there were not any suspects in custody.

Meanwhile, the vandals’ handiwork remained visible in bright yellow letters. Maintenance workers were unable to remove the paint due to weather.
