GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Rockford pastor and seminary professor has admitted to climbing a ladder to watch a couple have sex.
Jeremy Grinnell pleaded guilty Tuesday to surveilling an unclothed person. A second felony count was dismissed.
On Nov. 7, 2013, Grinnell went to the woman’s Cannon Township house and saw a light on the second floor. He found the ladder on her property and climbed up it to look in the window. He watched a woman and her partner in the nude for about 20 seconds before the partner caught sight of him.
He took off, but returned the next night to do the same thing, at which point he was arrested. He said he was there to pray for the woman, authorities said at the time.
Grinnell previously worked as a pastor at Bella Vista Church in Rockford. He resigned from that post after the incident. He also worked as an assistant theology professor at Cornerstone University’s seminary.
