BARRY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD)– A man is recovering after crashing his truck into a tree.

According to the Barry Township Police Department, the crash happened in the 10000 block of Cedar Creek Road. When emergency crews arrived, they found a Toyota pickup truck mangled next to a tree and a man outside the vehicle. Investigators determined that the 32 year old man was the driver and that he had been ejected from the pickup. Officials say he was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol appears to be a factor. Police believe the man was driving too fast and ran off the road before hitting the tree.

He was airlifted to the hospital. Officials say he is in serious condition.
