Delivery truck hits building after crash

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – A delivery truck hit a building just south of downtown Grand Rapids Thursday morning, causing a road closure.

It happened just before noon at the corner of Wealthy Street SE and LaGrave Avenue SE, just west of the Mercy Health St. Mary’s campus.

A 7UP delivery truck hit a building on the corner of Wealthy St. and LaGrave Ave. in southeast Grand Rapids after crashing with a car. (May 15, 2014)A 7UP truck was headed west on Wealthy Street when a car headed south on LaGrave Avenue came through the intersection and the two vehicles collided, according to Grand Rapids police at the scene. The truck then hit a brick building on the street corner.

No one was injured in the wreck, police said.

The intersection was expected to remain shut down for some time as the wreck is cleared, police said. A lieutenant at the scene said that because a light pole was knocked over in the crash and there was structural damage to the building, it would take longer to clear the scene.
