GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A 17-year-old accused of shoplifting hundreds in merchandise from the Jenison Meijer while armed has been arrested.
Just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Grandville teen, whose name is not being released pending arraignment, allegedly shoplifted $200 worth of merchandise from the Meijer located at 550 Baldwin St. and then ran from the store, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen pushed a store security guard and then fell down as he tried to get away, the sheriff’s office said. When he fell, he dropped what appeared to be a revolver.
Deputies at the scene found the gun, which turned out to be an airsoft gun, the sheriff’s office said.
The teen left a trail of stolen items as he ran from the store, according to the sheriff’s office. He was captured about a half of a mile away.
The teen’s arraignment date has not been released.
