BC elementary school placed on lockdown

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A Battle Creek elementary school went on lockdown Friday after three teens were seen acting suspiciously in the parking lot.

Minges Brook Elementary went on lockdown for about 15 minutes after a witness noticed three male teens in a car holding what looked like guns, according to a release.

Once investigators arrived, they found the three teens were waiting in the parking lot for a fourth friend who was inside getting help with homework. While waiting for their friend, the teens started removing their newly purchased BB guns from the packaging when the witness saw them, police said.

After it was determined they were only BB guns, the teens were allowed to leave and the lockdown was lifted, the release said.
