Raccoon causes large power outage in Kzoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Power has been restored to thousands of homes in Kalamazoo.

The outage was caused by a raccoon who wandered into an electrical substation near Western Michigan University’s campus, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Around 3,600 residents were without power for about two hours Friday morning. Power was restored before 6 a.m.
