3-year-old hit by car, hospitalized

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A 3-year-old was hospitalized Sunday after being hit by a car.

The crash happened just after 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue SE near Pleasant Street.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says the child ran out into traffic and a driver could not avoid a hitting the child. Police on the scene said the driver was not at fault.

The child was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital.

GRPD is still looking into the incident.
